How SureSmile™ Works
Since there aren’t any metal components or monthly adjustment appointments, you might be wondering how SureSmile™ works. In short, a custom series of aligners is used to gradually guide your teeth from where they are now to where they should be. You’ll need to wear each set for 20+ hours a day and for 1-2 weeks at a time. Then, once you’ve worked through the entire series and you’re happy with the results, we will provide you with a retainer.
Who SureSmile™ Can Help
Good news: this innovative smile-enhancing treatment can help patients with all kinds of orthodontic problems, including overbites. So, don’t hesitate to schedule a consultation with Drs. Stacy and Jessica Dean if you want to straighten your teeth and align your bite with clear aligners! In the meantime, you can read on to learn more about who SureSmile™ can help.
Crowded Teeth
Unfortunately, crooked teeth can increase your risk of several common oral health problems, including tooth decay. That’s one of the reasons we recommend exploring your treatment options, like SureSmile™! If you’re a good candidate, then we can gently move your teeth into their ideal positions with clear, custom, and convenient aligners.
Gaps Between Teeth
As the years go on, you may no longer be happy with the gap between your two front teeth. If that’s the case, let us know! During your consultation, we can determine if you’re a good candidate for SureSmile™ and, if you are, create your custom treatment plan. Before you know it, you’ll be on your way to a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing smile.
Bite Alignment
We mentioned above that SureSmile™ can fix overbites. The clear aligners have also proven to be effective at correcting mild to moderate cases of other common bite problems, including underbites, crossbites, and open bites!
The Benefits of SureSmile™
SureSmile™ continues to be so popular because:
- There aren’t any dietary restrictions
- The average treatment timeline is shorter
- The aligners are basically invisible
- There are fewer progress visits
- Taking care of your smile is easy because the aligners are removable
How Much Does SureSmile™ Cost?
Although you might assume that there is a flat fee, that’s not the case because there are so many factors that need to be considered, including the severity of your case. Don’t worry, though – we can provide you with an estimate of the price at your consultation. We can also discuss the different financial solutions we welcome, including dental insurance and CareCredit.
SureSmile™ Clear Aligners FAQs
Does SureSmile™ Hurt?
This is one of the most-asked questions about SureSmile™, especially among patients who have had traditional braces in the past. Fortunately, the aligners are smooth, metal-free, and custom-made to fit the contours of your teeth perfectly. Not only that, but they gradually guide your teeth and bite into their ideal places, making the journey to your dream smile considerably more comfortable. All that to say, you shouldn’t let fear of discomfort stop you from scheduling a consultation with us!
How Should I Clean My SureSmile™ Aligners?
Good news: you probably already have a soft-bristle toothbrush, mild dishwashing liquid, and clean water. That’s all you need to clean your aligners! Each time you take them off, rinse them with clean, cool water and place them in their designated case. Then, before you put them back on, use a damp, soft-bristled toothbrush and mild dishwashing liquid to remove saliva, food particles, and other debris from the surface.
Tip: If you need to wear your aligners a little longer than anticipated, consider soaking them for 15 minutes or so each day in a dentist-approved cleaning solution as well. That way, noticeable stains and unpleasant smells don’t develop on the surface.
What Happens After My SureSmile™ Treatment?
Once we’ve achieved the desired results with clear aligners in Washington, PA, we will shift our focus to keeping them there. This is what’s known as the “retention phase,” and it’s crucial because upwards of 50% of patients experience orthodontic relapse in the years following their orthodontic treatment. To prevent that from happening, your cosmetic dentist will create a custom retainer from impressions of your teeth. Once they’ve ensured that it fits comfortably, they will share how often you need to wear it as well as how to take care of it so it lasts.
Can I Drink Coffee with SureSmile™?
If you’re a self-proclaimed coffee enthusiast, then you’ll be happy to hear that you don’t have to give up your morning or afternoon cup throughout your orthodontic treatment. In fact, you can continue to enjoy this caffeinated beverage at your leisure as long as you abide by one rule: you need to take your aligners off first. This is important for a few reasons, including that keeping your trays on can cause noticeable, yellow stains to surface and increase your risk of tooth decay.
How Often Do I Need to Wear My SureSmile™ Aligners?
Simply put, you need to wear your aligners for a minimum of 20 hours a day. The best way to meet this goal day after day is to only take them off when it’s absolutely necessary. You might also find it helpful to use the stopwatch on your phone as a guide, especially toward the beginning of your orthodontic treatment.
Important reminder: Always wear your trays to your progress appointments with your cosmetic dentist in Washington, even if you are progressing to the next set in the series immediately after.
